About BoatBrevard.com, Updates, News, and more..

Thanks for everyone’s participation, encouragement, and support. BoatBrevard.com continues to grow into something much larger than I originally planned and expected. Since its launch at the beginning of December, it has had over 40,000 unique users, consistently gets over 5,000 page views, and gets many new members each day. Please continue to invite your friends and family to join us at Central Florida’s Interactive Waterway... We need your help to share the site with all boaters in Central Florida.

My original plan for the site in November was to create a simple discussion board for local boaters. Idea after idea and suggestion after suggestion has evolved it very quickly to what it is now. Many times, boaters meet other boaters and it is difficult to exchange phone numbers or email addresses. My vision is that when you meet another boater, the contact information exchange will no longer be necessary and you can simply say “Find me on BoatBrevard.com” or “Connect with me on BoatBrevard.com”. Additionally, if you want to know the next time Jerry and Sally with ‘Big Blue’ will be at Ski Island you can find out easily on the site.. Then you can decide to meet up or go somewhere else….

News and Updates

• Classifieds and local boating news is new and improved.
• BoatBrevard.com has been featured in FloridaToday & Hometown news in multiple instances.
• Advanced Search features- search for members by name, city, boat name, marina, or keyword.
• FAQs have been added to help you learn more about managing your profile, email alerts, create new groups, invite new friends, or create a new blogs.
• iPhone, Smart phone, and PDA phone users can now access a mobile version of the site at www.boatbrevard.com/m
• The local marketplace business directory is the most comprehensive boat related directory available to boaters in Central Florida.
• Several advertising are now available. As membership and users continue to grow, it will soon be the best and most cost effective way to target boaters and boat enthusiasts in Central Florida. Please contact me if you are interested.
• We are planning several member contests to encourage further participation. Please contact me if you are interested in sponsoring a contest or a prize.

Additional Items

• Please take some time to update your profile photo. The profile photo helps you develop your identity on the site and is the only way others will recognize you on the site or on the water..
• Please update your name on the site to your personal name only. Names of businesses or company names are not allowed, unless you are a current advertiser or sponsor. Advertisers on the site or businesses with featured listings will have the option for an additional business profile with a company name.
• Please add some of your recent boating or island photos. The site has a great feature where you can send the photo directly from your cell phone and it will be posted real-time. No need to wait to get home to share your photos! Go into your settings in your profile to learn more..

Did You Know?

Did you know you can send photos directly from your phone and have the images post into your profile? No need to wait to get home to share your boating photos! Go into your settings in your profile to learn more.

Did you know you can plan your own private events without sharing with everyone, but still benefit from the discussion board and RSVP features? When creating an event, simply select "Private: Only invited people can RSVP and see event details". It is a great way for members or groups to coordinate events without posting it live to everyone.

Did you know that BoatBrevard.com is now receiving well over 100,000 page views per month? We are expecting that this summer we will be averaging over 1 Million page views per month.

Feel free to drop me a note with any suggestions or comments you have.

How about this weather? A week of high sea's, high wind, and little good fishing. We did fish however, and catch fish, though we spent a lot more time hunting than catching. With smallcraft advisories up we knew heading out was off limits, not to me…

The problem is the fuel in the engine more than the fuel in the tank. It can turn to varnish over time. Can you shutoff a valve between the tank and the engine? If so, try to run the engine dry of fuel so the carburetor is empty. Add a stabilizer a…
