Any one have the tides for the Haulover Canal? I talked to the Bridge Tender last year and he claimed there were no tides at Haulover. I think that they are about 4hr 30min later at Turtle mound.

I do understand that there aren't Tides, by definition. in the Indian River Lagoon so I guess what I am really asking is are there definite times that there is a current flow from the IRL to Mosquito Lagoon. I know that there is an Ebb and Flo as far South as LeFils Fish Camp (very North end of Mosquito Lagoon) and it just seems to me that if water is moving there it is moving from somewhere.

The bridge tender is correct... there is no tide in the Indian River Lagoon. the water level changes are seasonal. It gets higher during the summer rainy season and the wind blows from the Southeast. During the dry season and when the wind is from the Northwest, North or Northeast the the level goes down.

You might want to know more what the flow is. The canal can get a pretty good current flowing through it caused by as Rick said the seasonal, and wind changes. I am learning some fishing theroies and I know that this flow will affect your odds.

Several days of a strong blow from the west will create a very noticable drop in water depth along the west
bank of the lagoon, causing some problem in launching from the unimproved ramps, such as Bio-Lab. This
is especially true in the winter when traditionally we have winds from the west and north. The winter is our dry
season so the lack of runoff from the 'swamps' allow the water to drop to a natural level, combined with the
winds blowing from one side, and it takes away from one side and pushes up on the other.

A strong north wind will likewise push the water to the south end of the no motor zone. From Houlover canal
south, the lagoon has no way out, so whicheverway the winds prevail, is the way the water will favor.Yes fishing
follows the pattern. The colder winter waters will warm quicker where it is shallowest after the sun rises, so watch
here for the fish to warm up and feed in the morning.

If you were to go to Eddy Creek at Canaveral National Seashore now, after a week of brisk east to north winds
you would find the water low, wheras the west side of the lagoon would be higher. This pattern will change soon enough
however to what was already discussed.

We haven't heard anything. Please keep an eye out, but the chances of getting the boat back don't look good. I hear that there have been a lot of problems at Lee Wenner with theft, so everyone be careful if you put in or dock there.

Plastic tank. Fiberglass would deteriorate and I believe that aluminum oxidizes. Not iron oxide rust but oxidation nonetheless. Boats made after 1994 are supposed to have ethanol compatible gas tanks. Do you agree? Do you replace the water separatio…
