New member saying hello!
Hi everyone!
Just found this forum and want to say its seems really nice! I have a 38' KV Scarab Miami Vice Edition that I trailer over to the Brevard area now and then (Iive north of Orlando)
I am planning a trip to Ski Island and overnighting on the 3rd and 4th. Was curious if Kelly Park is still a good Boat Ramp? I do have a long trailer! I have used Cape Marina for lift on and lift off service which was nice but $$$$. I have never eaten with the boat at any of the Port resturants and was curious as to what's the plan for the 4th weekend?
My boat is a 1987 updated in 2003 with new 500EFI Racing engines, she is one of the few Miami Vice Edition Scarabs still around. Her name is JET LAG
I have been to Ski Island maybe twice, didn't beach my boat but was on the hook just off the beach on the south side.

Welcome aboard! Nice boat, love the ski vest for the dog! Kelly park should be fine for you there is no drop off, the ramp has a shallow grade, and where the concrete ends the bottom begins so your wheels should just keep traveling until your floating. I use it constantly as my repair shop is 3 blks away. I launch all sizes of boats and have never had a problem.

How is the water coming out of the basin of the park? I noticed last time no channel markers--I just made a hard left out of the inlet and followed the shore until the channel and Bridge.

Don't know how you missed them , there definitly channel markers leading out of the basin. they run due east from the shore when exiting the basin. You are correct about making a hard left. I see many people going out the basin straight and then looking for a channel just to find bottom before they see where to go. You will have plenty of water depth in the channel. I have taken 4 ft draft thru there many times. Do be aware of rocks on the east side of the basin entrance stay closer to the wood sea wall on the west side.

We haven't heard anything. Please keep an eye out, but the chances of getting the boat back don't look good. I hear that there have been a lot of problems at Lee Wenner with theft, so everyone be careful if you put in or dock there.
Plastic tank. Fiberglass would deteriorate and I believe that aluminum oxidizes. Not iron oxide rust but oxidation nonetheless. Boats made after 1994 are supposed to have ethanol compatible gas tanks. Do you agree? Do you replace the water separatio…
