Mystery? Battery or Gauge?
Need some input here, I have a 90 yamaha 2 stroke, I have the yamaha digital gauges on the boat .
Last weekend while out the battery is reading 16.4 and flashing continuously. The trip odometer doubled actual distance traveled and fuel gauge showed full even after 50 miles. Could this be a battery issue or the gauge itself. I can take it in but if I can fix it that would be the prefered way to go

hook up a different battery and try it. If the battery has bad cells then it can cause a high voltage and affect the guage as you see it. If a different battery does change things then the problem is deeper.

I have the same set-up. I have to replace the Multi Gauge as there is no repairing these gauges. Both the fuel gauge and the volt meter will be affected by this 'Multi Guage". By the way, Yamaha want @ $500 and change for a new guage. I am going with an new anolog gauge for the tack and one for the trim, and rewire the Volt meter and Fuel Gauge.

We haven't heard anything. Please keep an eye out, but the chances of getting the boat back don't look good. I hear that there have been a lot of problems at Lee Wenner with theft, so everyone be careful if you put in or dock there.
Plastic tank. Fiberglass would deteriorate and I believe that aluminum oxidizes. Not iron oxide rust but oxidation nonetheless. Boats made after 1994 are supposed to have ethanol compatible gas tanks. Do you agree? Do you replace the water separatio…
